The Proper Method for Securing AC and MC Cables
April 15, 1999

National Electrical Code (NEC) article 333-7 and 334-10 (a) denote the different requirements for securing Armored and Metal Clad cables. Although similar in appearance, each cable has unique requirements.
Armored cable (NEC article 333-7) must be secured at intervals not exceeding 4-1/2 feet and within 12" of box or fitting.
Metal Clad cable [NEC article 334-10(a)] must be secured at least every 6 feet. Cables with four or fewer conductors must be secured within 12" of box or fitting.
Always use Bridgeport's UL listed AC and MC Cable Straps.
Note: Above comments are not an interpretation of the National Electrical Code or local regulations. Always consult your local electrical inspector for requirements in your area.
